Production Shift Supervisor

Future PolyTech, one of the region’s fastest growing blown film extruders, is currently seeking an experienced Production Shift Supervisor to oversee production lines and ensure efficiency while following safety regulations and company policies. This candidate will assist in setting up and operating plastic extruders and associated production equipment to convert plastic resins into blown film for flexible plastic sheeting, tubing or bags. The candidate will also perform manufacturing operations which will result in efficiently producing a flexible product on a timely basis that meets all the customer’s product specifications.

We are seeking candidates with the following experience/qualifications:

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years experience in blown film manufacturing
  • Ability to hands-on manage production lines and develop efficient and cost-effective production processes through developing and maintaining high product quality standards and associate safety standards
  • Effective communication as a team leader, coach and trainer while providing individual and technical leadership to direct reports as well as management
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Desired candidate should currently live within a commutable distance to plant

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review Production Order Form specifications to ensure the correct equipment, packaging supplies and raw materials are available to produce a product that meets the customer’s specifications
  • Setup and operate bag machine(s) and support equipment to convert film into bags
  • Read and verify line orders/dockets
  • Understand printing job requirements by the specifications
  • Set up the bag line by loading film and adjusting for size
  • Mount cylinders, adjust pressure, tension and distribution of ink
  • Troubleshoot stoppages and breakdowns
  • Perform quality checks of material being produced and complete related documentation
  • Complete daily production paperwork
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area
  • Set up other necessary auxiliary equipment
  • Learn basic knowledge of resins and their properties
  • Learn and understand all equipment so adjustments can be made if/when needed
  • Periodically observe and check finished film coming off the production line and if sub-standard product is detected, take immediate corrective action to eliminate any causes of sub-standard product
  • Assist other team members in performing operations according to sound production methods to make sure a product is being produced and packaged to meet the customer’s specifications
  • Properly fill out production and quality reports on a timely basis
  • Under direction of the Plant Manager may train team members in correct operating procedures, safety and quality policy procedures
  • Monitor production equipment to ensure equipment is operating properly and, under supervision of the Plant Manager, perform routine maintenance on equipment
  • Perform other tasks as directed by management
